I really enjoyed operating with Bourbon Liberty 203 which successfully perform safe, efficient and fast work to the client during anchor handling operations. Client also appreciated the high level of quality of the service, she allows to provide.
Delivered by the Sinopacific shipyards in Dayang (China) early in February, the AHTS Bourbon Liberty 203 has been managed by Bourbon Offshore Asia for Anchor handling operation in Asia.

"The maneuverability of Bourbon Liberty 203 is very impressive."
During operation on both manual and DP mode even in strong weather conditions – 4 knots beam current and wind speed reaching 25 knots – the vessel responded rapidly and correctly. I could notice clearly that the drop accuracy of anchor on seabed was at its best on this vessel.
Moreover, the 3 Z-drive thrusters (maneuverability), the 3 generators (power) and the DP 2 system (control) insure to realize operations in total safety process and with time-saving.

I observed that she is able to perform pre-tension on pre-laid mooring anchor with 60 tons bollard pull on DP mode which is amazing when compared with traditional vessel of the same class.
The modern anchor handling and towing winch capacity of 75 tons on single drive and 150 tons on double drive mode makes the anchor handling operation very easy and safe for all parties on bridge, deck and engine room.
She is able to load, deploy and retrieve two Stevpris new generation anchors 12.5 tons, 4 steel buoys of 6 tons capacity, 1160m x 52mm steel mooring wire on both towing and anchor handling drum and 60m x 76mm diameter studded link chain.

She is noiseless even when 100% usage of engine and thrusters during anchor handling operation mainly due to electric driven motor on her propulsion system.
The FUGRO monitor is located on the aft station control facing Captain’s chair which makes it very easy for the Master to monitor track line, dropping position for the anchor including monitoring of surrounding hazard like platform and seabed pipelines.

There is no difficulty on performing anchor handling operation with her deck equipment layout.
For this particular AH operation, by removing one of the roller spool device, both towing and working drums became suitable as double anchor handling drum without damaging spooling device.
The towing drum was used as second working drum and able to deploy and recover 2 sets of pre-laid mooring system and hooking up to HTV Black Marlin and connecting 4 wires to the melting line by using only 1 pair of shark jaw and 1 pair of towing pins.
