Bourbon Liberty: a long continuous collaboration

For BOURBON, Guido Perla Associates and Sinopacific, not everything began with the Bourbon Liberty.
This collaboration began five years ago with the GPA 670 design. Designed in several versions and built in China by Sinopacific, 10 vessels of which 7 of the series: Bourbon Hector, Hestia, Harmonie, Hemera, Helene, Homère and Xicalango have been delivered since May 2008.

The foundations for the Bourbon Liberty series were laid as a continuation of this first profitable collaboration.

Close collaboration between the designer, operator and shipyard

The success of a project like this demands team work, in which the designer, operator and the shipyard must cooperate without any weak link in the chain.

Guido Perla & Associates, Sinopacific and BOURBON therefore worked very closely from the beginning of the project, working very hard to remove cultural barriers and understand each other's viewpoint. This process was facilitated by a common objective—to find solutions, each in its own area of expertise, to be able to build more vessels more rapidly, while guaranteeing quality, safety and respect for deadlines.

Involvement of all players—from design to delivery

In this type of project, collaboration between the operator, designer and shipyard must continue throughout construction.

Once the vessels have been delivered, the feedback from experience must be analyzed to ensure continued improvement in the processes and choices made. Guido Perla & Associates, Sinopacific and BOURBON are in constant contact, at all phases of the project, through the BOURBON coordination teams in Marseille and China, the production support teams from Guido Perla Associates in Shanghai and the dedicated teams at Sinopacific.

Testimony

The care given to the design is a factor in productivity and quality. Only innovation ensures progress.
